Windybank flyfishing Club

The Club water is Meltham Mills Reservoir, a five acre, 200 year old reservoir adjacent to Meltham Golf Club on one side and ancient protected woodland on the other. The setting is very pleasant and there is an abundance of varied wild life. Access is via a locked gate and stile onto a track through the wood to the car park by the reservoir. If you want to visit, park on Knowle Lane and walk up the track, it is a very pleasant walk of about quarter of a mile. As a member you would receive a key for the gate.

Membership is open to adults and juniors of all abilities. Fishing is by artificial fly only. Members are happy to give novices some tuition, friendly advice and even a fly or two.  

The water is regularly stocked with rainbow trout of between 1.5 and 5lbs. and is open for fishing all year. You are allowed to take up to 2 fish per day to a maximum of 6 fish per week.  Most members occasionally take one for the table and practise catch and release. The water fishes very well even in winter. As the water is in a sheltered position there are places that you can get a line out when it is not possible on other more exposed waters in the area. There are no restrictions as to how many days you can fish and no close season. 

To join there is an initial non-returnable Joining Fee of £100 and a Bond of £200.00 which is refunded (according to Club rules) should you resign. The annual subscription is currently £170.00 for January to December. It is possible to pay by instalments if you wish.

All members must have a valid Environment Agency Rod Licence.

There are various social events such as fishing trips to other waters and friendly competitions. As a member of the Fishing Club you are also a social member of Meltham Golf Club and are able to take advantage of their bar and catering facilities at the club house. Their dress code rules must be obeyed.
